Nassar Nizami Named CIO for Thomas Jefferson University, Jefferson Health
Nassar Nizami, Chief Information Officer, Thomas Jefferson University and Jefferson Health
Nassar Nizami has been named Chief Information Officer (CIO) for Thomas Jefferson University and Jefferson Health. He joins Jefferson today, Sept. 5, and will report directly to Peter DeAngelis, Jr., EVP and Chief Financial Officer/Chief Administrative Officer.
Nassar brings to this position extensive operational experience with systems integration, deployment of electronic medical records, IT governance and structure, and risk and compliance. Most recently, he was Vice President for Information Technology at New York-Presbyterian and prior to that, served in several senior IT roles at Yale New Haven Health System. At both institutions, he was instrumental in managing the systems integration and alignment of technology needs as a result of mergers with partner organizations.
As a key member of the leadership team responsible for leveraging technology across our enterprise, Nassar will initially focus on aligning IS&T resources to priority initiatives identified through Operational Integration work plans enabled through our strategic GE Healthcare relationship; designing and implementing work plans to migrate partner organizations to the Epic platform; and initiating an IS&T strategic planning process to prioritize the enterprise’s technology needs and align them with Jefferson’s integrated strategic and financial planning process.
Nassar is certified in current IT and management practices and has obtained several master’s degrees in computer and management engineering. He recently completed his MBA from Columbia University.
With his broad experience in systems integration resulting from recent mergers of large academic medical centers, and his operational expertise in instituting successful IT governance and structure programs, Nassar is well suited to deliver innovative systems solutions that address the evolving information technology needs of our growing institution.
